After a life of struggle and hard knock lessons not always learned or embraced, there are clouds. Because her mother, and even her mother before that died too young from the self-defeating generational perils of alcoholism, there are deep roots of pain. With a no-way-out and the all-or-nothing reactive approach to life where perfectionism is only healed by pain and escape, there was a smaller Melissa which inflicted damage to herself and people around her.
She now wakes up praying and living to paint, painting with the purpose to make sense of it all. Canvas is how she finds a path to peace, a place to work through her emotion. Any result is part of the journey.
